PSYCHOLOGICAL TREATMENT
You do not need a referral to make an appointment at Psychwest, and you have the option of receiving psychological treatment as a private client. Alternatively you can be referred by a General Practitioner in which case you will be entitled to Medicare rebates for your treatment.
Fees
Our fees are currently $140 per consultation session for individuals. Each session normally lasts approximately 50-55 minutes.
Payment Methods
We accept cash, EFTPOS, Credit Card, and Cheque. We kindly request that fees are paid at the time of consultation.
Cancellation Policy
We understand that at times things come up unexpectedly that may result in you needing to cancel or reschedule your appointment. If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment we ask that you provide us with at least 24hrs notice. Otherwise a 50% cancellation fee will apply.
Medicare Rebates
Medicare rebates are available if you have been referred by a GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician under the Medicare Better Access initiative.
All Psychwest Psychologists are registered Medicare providers and currently you will receive a substantial rebate of $84.50 per session if you have been referred to us by a GP under the Better Access initiative.
If you wish to claim a rebate from Medicare for your psychological treatment sessions please follow the steps below:
Make an appointment with your GP to discuss the issues or problem you have been dealing with and let them know you would like to see a psychologist for help with your situation.
- Your GP will make an assessment of your situation and will then raise a Mental Health Care Plan
- Bring a copy of your referral letter and/or mental health care plan with you to your first appointment so you can receive the rebate after your first session. Please note that you can choose the psychologist that you want to treat you, and it is acceptable to advise your GP if you have a preferred Psychologist to provide your treatment.
- You are entitled to a medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per calender year. If you would like any additional information or advice in relation to Medicare rebates, please contact us, or alternatively you can view the medicare info sheets here.
Private Health Fund Rebates
If you are a member of a private health fund, you may be eligible for a rebate for psychological services. The amount of the rebate you are entitled to will vary depending on your health fund, and your level of cover. Please contact your health fund to find out what your entitlements are for psychological treatment.
Unemployed / Pensioners / Concession card holders
At Psychwest we like to try and help everyone, and therefore are willing to reduce our fees for you if you are currently unemployed (and receiving unemployment benefits), if you are a pension card holder or other concession card holder. If this applies to you please advise us and we can discuss your individual circumstances and appropriate consultation fees.
SPECIALIST SERVICES
Forensic Assessments and Reports
The cost for these services varies, and is dependent on the purpose of the report, the nature and complexity of the assessment and report,and the time it takes to conduct assessments and prepare the appropriate documentation.
We encourage you and/or your legal representative to discuss your situation with us, so we can advise you of the costs of service for your specific circumstances.
Consultation and training
At Psychwest we have staff who are experts in behaviour management programs, criminal behaviour, and drug and alcohol treatment services. We offer training and consultation packages in these areas to suit the needs of your organisation. Please contact us to discuss the needs of your organisation and we will tailor a package to suit, and the associated costs.
WORKCOVER APPROVED PSYCHOLOGISTS AND COUNSELLING
Psychwest Workcover approved Psychologists and Counselling offers access to psychology services under the NSW Workcover & Compulsory Third Party (CTP) scheme. If you are a case manager, or a client, please contact us and ask to speak to us about our Workcover services.
